PS Plus Free Games for August 2017 [Official Freebies Unveiled]

It’s another month, and, yup – another round of free titles for gamers that have an active PlayStation Plus subscription. The official announcement for PS Plus free games (August 2017 edition) has been published on the PlayStation Blog.

PS Plus Free Games August 2017

The games subscribers will get to snag for free in August are:

  • Just Cause 3 – PS4
  • Assassin’s Creed: Freedom Cry – PS4
  • Super Motherload – PS3
  • Snakeball – PS3
  • Downwell – PS Vita / PS4 Crossbuy
  • Level 22 – PS Vita

Many gamers have been complaining about the giveaway games with a PlayStation subscription in past months, but Sony has dropped a relatively impressive bomb today with not one, but two AAA titles up for grabs.

Just Cause 3 is an open-world, active-adventure title from Avalanche Studios that was released in December of 2015. It’s a single-player game with massive world to explore that allows players to get pretty creative when it comes to taking out enemies and just having a ball.

Perhaps the only downside to the game is that it’s been known to have gameplay issues on the PS4 with lag-spikes and awful framerate issues. While the development team has resolved some of the problems, others still persist. The game does, however, run quite smoothly on the PS4 Pro.

Assassin’s Creed: Freedom Cry is technically an expansion for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, but is available as a standalone game and doesn’t require Black Flag to play. The DLC was made available in October of 2013 and was considered by many to be a great addition to the series.

The PS Plus free games for August 2017 are, same as every month, available for free download for PlayStation Plus subscribers only. If you don’t have a current membership – it may very well be worth dropping $10 to grab these great games at a major discount.
